A BFA graduate from Notre Dame, Newman got his start in VFX in the mid-1990s at Computer Cafe, contributing to feature films including Flubber and Armageddon, nominated for an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects. He has six children and dedicates much of his time to creating artwork for them. Recently recognized by Art Business News as a Top 50 Emerging Artist, his artwork has been in galleries from Monterey to Miami and resides in private collections on four continents.
For years, I have worked as a visual effects artist on feature films, music videos, and commercials. While this career path pushed me creatively and provided access to the most advanced tools available to an artist, it has never eclipsed the passion I had for my personal projects.
My most meaningful inspiration comes from having children. While still in college I became a father and since that moment, being present for my children and expressing my love for them has been my first priority. Several years ago I began a project to show support for my first daughter's interest in the environment and Greek mythology. This depiction of her as Gaea, Goddess of Earth, began as a side project but quickly grew in scope when I recognized this as a unique opportunity to reach my full artistic potential. I was caught off guard by the positive feedback I received early on -- including being named a Top 50 Emerging Artist by Art Business News the first month I showed my work publicly.
My work lies at the convergence of art, technology and philosophy. I aim to create art that is future-proof in both craftsmanship and aesthetics, intrinsically beautiful and layered with meaning. I have countless other projects I look forward to sharing in the years to come.

Visual effects isn't only for commercials, movies and art. You can also make your kids look like they're feeding you. ;)
